Senior Consultant Gynaecologist - Mr David Griffiths

With more than 25 years of consultant experience, Mr Griffiths specialist interests are menstrual disorders, pelvic pain & endometriosis, pelvic floor problems and urinary incontinence. Mr Griffiths is also an accredited British Menopause Society specialist.

Qualifying in 1987, Mr Griffiths completed his formative training in the Midlands. He has worked as a clinical fellow in reproductive medicine at St James's University Hospital, Leeds and in 1994 was awarded a Fellowship to Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. Before taking up his NHS Consultant post he also worked at the Center for Endometriosis Care, Atlanta, Georgia and various hospitals in New Zealand.

Mr Griffiths encourages and values a personal holistic approach to your gynaecological concerns in a comfortable and relaxed setting. He has a wealth of surgical expertise and specialises in advanced and complex laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery for endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic floor reconstruction and other benign problems.

Nurse Specialist – Anita Godsmark

Anita trained in nursing at the Gwent College of Nursing and Midwifery and qualified in 1992. Anita joined the BMI Ridgeway Hospital in 1995 and is our Nurse Specialist in Gynaecology. You will meet Anita in clinic with Mr Griffiths and see her during your stay. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she is a very valuable member of the team.

Colorectal Surgeon – Mr Richard Payne

Mr Payne is a Consultant Gastrointestinal Surgeon, practising at the Ridgeway Hospital and The Great Western Hospital, Swindon. He qualified from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School with Honours in 1993, having attained a first class Honours Degree in anatomy in 1990. His surgical training was in London and the Wessex region. In 1997 he was awarded his FRCS. He attained a Master of Surgery degree in 2003 and was appointed as a Consultant in 2005. His surgical special interests are colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and endometriosis.
